What Does a Nurse Coach Do? | ReNurture Holistic Coaching

Desaray Wilson | Certified Nurse Coach

The word "coaching" gets thrown around a lot these days. Business coaching, mindset coaching, health coaching — it can be hard to know what any of it actually means, or whether it's something that could genuinely help you. I want to answer that honestly. Because if you're on the fence about whether private coaching is right for you, you deserve a real answer — not a sales pitch.

WHAT A NURSE COACH IS (AND ISN'T)

A nurse coach isn't a therapist. We don't diagnose, treat, or work through clinical mental health conditions, and if that's what you need, I'll always encourage you to seek that support. A nurse coach also isn't a consultant who hands you a solution. I'm not going to tell you what to do with your life. What I am is a thinking partner, someone with a clinical background and a holistic approach who asks the right questions, holds space for your honest answers, and helps you see what you couldn't see on your own. The "nurse" part matters because it means I understand the body, the nervous system, the way stress actually lives in us. I bring that clinical lens to the coaching work, paired with a genuine belief in the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. Most of the women I work with aren't in crisis. They're functional, capable, and often high-achieving. They just feel stuck, unclear, or quietly exhausted, and they can't quite figure out why, because from the outside, everything looks fine.

WHAT WE ACTUALLY WORK ON TOGETHER

Every coaching relationship looks a little different, because every woman is different. But common threads include: Getting clear on what you actually want — separate from what you think you should want, or what others expect of you. Identifying the patterns, beliefs, or habits that are keeping you in the same cycles. Rebuilding a relationship with yourself that's grounded in compassion rather than criticism. Making decisions with more confidence and less second-guessing. Learning how to feel supported without needing to earn it first.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU'RE READY?

You might be ready for holistic nurse coaching if: You've been feeling like something needs to change, but you can't quite name what. You're tired of giving care to everyone else while quietly running on empty yourself. You've tried to work through it on your own and keep hitting the same walls. You crave a space where you can be fully honest — without worrying about how it lands. You have goals or a sense of direction you want to move toward, and you want real support getting there.

READY TO FIND OUT MORE?

My approach is rooted in a deep respect for each woman's inner life. I bring a gentle spirituality to our work together, not a prescribed framework or religious lens, but an openness to the whole person. One of my clients described it as a breath of fresh air she didn't know she needed. That's what I hope every woman I work with finds: something new, something true, something that felt just out of reach until it wasn't. --- If you're curious about what private nurse coaching could look like for you, the best next step is a conversation. Visit renurture.co to learn more about working together. I hold space for women every day, and I'd love to hold it for you.
